Explanation:

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts (PRCA) recommends to update the annual lease agreement fee for the use of public lands to construct and maintain private boat docks.

Section 98.051 (B) of the Hollywood Code of Ordinances provides that annual boat docks lease fee shall be established by Resolution of the City Commission.

The lease fee for the construction and maintenance of private boat docks upon City property for leases entered into or renewed after September 1, 2020 shall be $1,800.00 per year per dock facility plus the applicable rental sales tax, which shall be due on October 1st each year during the four year term.

Fiscal Impact:

As a result of the rental market study, the boat dock lease annual payment will increase to $1,800.00 per dock beginning October 1, 2020.  The fee will adjust annually based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

The current fee of $594.66 generates an annual revenue of $28,500.00 for the 48 boat docks. The anticipated annual revenue with the new fee is $86,400.00.  The City plans to set the collected revenues aside in a Special Revenue Fund for Resiliency.
