Explanation:
Pursuant to Chapter 163, Florida Statutes, municipalities are required to prepare comprehensive plans establishing each city's vision unique and priorities for the future, reinforced by tools, strategies, and initiatives for implementation. Such plans shall be consistent with the Broward County Land Use Plan under the Broward County Charter.
The City of Hollywood's Comprehensive Plan was first adopted in 1989. The current Plan was adopted in January 2008.
The Department of Development Services, Planning and Urban Design Division, seeks to update its Comprehensive Plan with the intent of establishing an innovative, dynamic, and stimulating plan, which reflects the City's unique character-in accordance with the recently adopted, County Comprehensive Plan, Broward Next.
On July 29, 2019, the City issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ-4611-19-AP-Comprehensive Plan) for this purpose and received six qualified responses from the following firms: Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc., Ecosistema Urbano LLC, KCI Technologies, Inc., Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., The Corradino Group, Inc.; and, The Image Network, Inc. dba Dover, Kohl & Partners.
On September 17, 2019, an Evaluation Committee consisting of three voting members from Development Services, Planning and Urban Design, and Communication, Marketing & Economic Development, and four non-voting member from Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts (PRCA), Public Utilities, Community Development, and Broward County Planning Council met and evaluated the proposals.
