Explanation: On March 27, 2020, President Trump signed the CARES Act into law, which provides direct federal assistance to local governments with populations over 500,000. Broward County has received $340,744,702 in funds to assist with this public health emergency for eligible expenses incurred from March 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) recognized and appropriated the $340.7M on June 2, 2020. Through the concerted efforts of the Broward League of Cities (BLOC) and the Broward City/County Management Association (BCCMA), the cities collectively requested that the County share a portion of the $340.7M, up to 30%, with each of the 31 cities and unincorporated area for qualifying expenditures related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through ongoing negotiations and discussions with the County, a proposal was presented and approved by the BOCC on August 25, 2020 for the County Administrator to enter into a Funding Agreement with each City, providing for the total amount allocated to each City, the proposed budget and projects intended for the funding.

For the City of Hollywood, the total share of this funding will amount to $8,195,497.46. The funding allocation is further defined to fit into the following categories of eligible expenses:
* Monitoring Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities
* Personal Protective Equipment for City employees
* Cleaning/Disinfection of City facilities
* Public Information Campaign
