Explanation:
A sinkhole developed adjacent to the guard house at the entrance to the Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant ("SRWWTP") and was backfilled with flowable fill in October 2022. On December 15, 2022, the Department of Public Utilities ("Department") staff noticed that the 48-inch sewer gravity pipe, which receives sewage from the City of Dania Beach and a portion of the City, had become surcharged. The Department initiated an emergency response to this incident to pre-empt a catastrophic break, including staging a temporary bypass pumping system.

On December 16, 2022, the Department met with three experienced contractors whose firms have had prior experience with installation of similar size pipe to solicit proposals for probable repairs.

On December 19, 2022, Department staff received bids, from three firms with active construction contracts, for the emergency replacement of approximately 500 feet of the 48" gravity main, with the following results:
