Explanation:
The City of Hollywood's Water Treatment Plant ("WTP") is a 59.5 million gallons per day ("mgd") plant that not only provides high quality drinking water to the residents of the City, but also serves approximately 300 acres in the Town of Davie, 50 acres in the City of Dania Beach, and 100 acres in the Seminole Tribe of Florida Reservation. The WTP also provides wholesale water to Broward County's Water and Wastewater Services Districts 3A and 3B/C. In addition to retail and wholesale water services, the City has an emergency connection with the City of Dania Beach, which withdraws water from the City's system to maintain its system pressure. The WTP typically treats 78% of raw water withdrawn from Biscayne Aquifer, and 22% of raw water allocation from Floridan Aquifer.

On April 14, 2021, WTP staff noticed a leak in the 30 inch raw water supply pipe in the parking lot between the secondary high service pump station and the filter building. The Department of Public Utilities staff exposed the leaking pipe to inspect the extent of the leak and the possibility of repairing it. Several temporary repair methods were evaluated and none of them could be successfully implemented in-house due to the challenges including limited clearance between the 30 inch pipe and two adjacent electric manholes and the duct bank crossing ...
