Explanation:
The 2007 City of Hollywood Water System Master Plan identified the need to replace aging water distribution system pipes throughout the City. In order to address the findings of the 2007 Water System Master Plan, the Department of Public Utilities developed and is implementing a City-wide Water Main Replacement Program which prioritizes the replacement of water mains based on the age of the pipelines and frequency of pipeline breaks in a given area.

Hollywood Beach includes the North Beach and South Central Beach neighborhoods which are among the oldest areas in the City. Their water main infrastructure, especially along A1A, was installed from 1940 to 1968 and has reached the end of its useful life. Therefore, the existing water mains in the North Beach area and the South Central Beach area along A1A need to be replaced. Additionally, the Department has identified the need to increase the size of existing sanitary sewer force mains and replace and upgrade lift stations within the project area. On November 4, 2020, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2020-293 authorizing the appropriate City officials to negotiate an agreement with the highest ranked firm, Tetra Tech, Inc. for consideration of Design and Construction Administration Services for Hollywood Beach Utility Improvements by the City Commission at a later date.
