Explanation:
The City's sewer collection system consists of sewer gravity system and sewer force main system.

There are a limited number of existing isolation valves in the sewer force main system, which make it extremely difficult to shut down isolated areas when maintenance, repair and connection to the system is required.

The Department of Public Utilities staff evaluated the existing sewer force main system and has determined that it is necessary to install a total of 12 additional isolation valves and 11 flowmeters in the force main system in order to improve the operation and maintenance of the system.

The Department of Public Utilities staff has determined that it is necessary to install an isolation valve and a flowmeter near the intersection of Park Road and Taft Street to address the isolation of Emerald Hills area as the first sewer system isolation valve and flowmeter project.

Craven Thompson & Associates, Inc. and the City currently have a Professional Services Agreement for General Engineering Consulting Services for water, sewer, reuse and stormwater infrastructure projects which was approved by the City Commission pursuant to Resolution No. R-2017-284 on September 20, 2017.

The Department of Public Utilities staff requested a proposal from Craven Thompson & Associates, Inc. to provide professional engineering services related to the design, permitting, bidding, and construction services for the Sanitary Sewer System Isolation Valve and Flowme...
