Title

A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Approving And Authorizing The Appropriate City Officials To Execute Agreements For Traffic Control With The Communities At Harbor Islands.

Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

The City of Hollywood recognizes that it has full power and jurisdiction to enforce all laws of the state, county and city, duly enacted, excluding those of traffic control and enforcement upon private property with limited exceptions. The private communities of Harbor Islands desire to specifically grant the City the power and authority to enforce traffic control within their respective boundaries and to grant an easement for ingress and egress for said purpose. Pursuant to Section 316.06(2)(b), Florida Statutes, a private property owner may contract with local government to exercise jurisdiction for traffic regulation and enforcement over private or limited access roads owned or maintained by the private party. Harbor Islands has agreed to sufficiently indemnify the City in consideration for traffic control and enforcement within their respective communities.
