Explanation:
The Fleet Management Division of the Public Works Department requires the purchase of one (1) 2016 John Deere Model 544K 4X4 Wheel Loader to be utilized in the Department of Public Utilities Water Treatment Plant to replace a vehicle that has either reached or surpassed its life expectancy by age, mileage and wear, and can no longer perform at the required operational levels. This purchase was evaluated for the use of alternative fuels, however alternative fuels are not available.

The existing in service vehicle, a 1994 John Deere Model 544G Wheel Loader, has reached and surpassed its life expectancy due to age and mechanical wear and can no longer perform at its required operational levels.

The City will receive a trade in value of nineteen thousand dollars ($19,000.00) from Nortrax, Inc. towards the purchase of the new vehicle unit.

This unit will be utilized by the City's Water Treatment Plant staff in their daily operation schedule transporting lime, catalyst, sludge and sand materials and performing emergency services within the Water Plant.

The City's experience and work history with John Deere wheel loader vehicles has proven that the John Deere Model 544K 4x4 Wheel Loader will meet the operational needs and requirements of the Water Plant.

The Florida Sheriff's Association competitively bid this vehicle in Bid Number 15-13-0904, for their own use and use by governmental entities within the State.
