Explanation:
Broward County Commissioner Beam Furr wishes to utilize the $58,000.00 in Safe Parks Funds allocated to District 6 to complete renovations and improvements at two community centers in Hollywood.
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts would like to accept this grant funding to be utilized to refinishing and replacing flooring and wall padding at Washington Park and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Centers.
There is no match required for this funding source.
The project is a departmental need that has been identified on the annual Capital Improvement Plan and the courts are highly utilized by the community in the evenings and all summer long as they are air conditioned facilities. Summer camp and aftercare programming at the sites utilize the courts for their physical education during bad weather and high heat.
If the item is approved, the work will commence after the summer programming.
