Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.
Explanation: The Broward County Marine Advisory Committee is accepting grant proposals for the Broward County Enhanced Marine Law Enforcement Grant. The purpose of the Broward County Enhanced Marine Law Enforcement Grant program is to improve boating safety in Broward County by providing funds for the enhancement of Marine Law Enforcement and education. The City desires to promote and enhance the safe and pleasurable use of the navigable waterways within the City. The City desires to protect and preserve the natural and man-made marine resources available throughout the City.
The Chief of Police recommends that the appropriate City officials apply for the Fiscal Year 2019/2020 Enhanced Marine Law Enforcement and Education Grant for the enhancement of Marine Law Enforcement and education in order to preserve and promote the safe and pleasurable use of the navigable waterways within the City in the approximate amount of $59,304.00, and further recommends the acceptance and execution of said grant upon its award.
