Explanation:

The City of Hollywood is presenting the Sage Beach Condominium with its first Turtle Friendly Lighting Recognition award.

The Sage Beach Condo property is an outstanding example of fully compliant exterior lighting and fixtures and sufficient tinting on glass windows and doors to ensure that interior light is not visible from the beach at night.

Artificial lighting in the beach environment can disorient sea turtle hatchlings and cause them to head away from instead of toward the ocean. The Sage Beach Condo meets all of its interior and exterior lighting needs while also providing the dark conditions that enable the turtles to find their way to the water.

Fiscal Impact:

Presentation will have no fiscal impact on the City.
