Body

Staff Recommends:  Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

An application was submitted by The Humanity Project and the LGBTQ+ Council of Hollywood, through representatives Bob Knotts and Lisa Tumminello, seeking to rename Anniversary Park to “Humanity Park.”

Due to lack of business community support a new/revised application was submitted by The Humanity Project and the LGBTQ+ Council of Hollywood, seeking to rename Oakwood Hills Park to “Humanity Park”, which will give the park a more defined purpose of bringing people together in an inclusive and welcoming space representing equality for each and respect for all.

The Naming Committee met and reviewed the application and supporting documents which met all the Naming Policy criteria and recommends to the City Commission that Oakwood Hills Park be renamed “Humanity Park”.

Fiscal Impact:

Approval of this Resolution will not fiscally impact the City.
