Title

A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Amending The Number And Type Of Authorized Positions And Adjusting The Assignments Of The Authorized Positions For Each Department For The Fiscal Year 2024 As Previously Established By R-2023-302.

Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

Certain periodic revisions to the authorized number of positions are appropriate and necessary during the fiscal year.

This Resolution seeks to adjust the number of authorized full-time positions, job classifications and pay grades established as part of the adoption of the Fiscal Year 2024 Operating Budget. These adjustments are necessary to address critical operational gaps within City departments and offices.

This Resolution include the following changes:

Transfer the Director of Public Safety Position from the Police Department to the Office of the City Manager.

Within the Department of Development Services:

o                     Convert the vacant Deputy Director position to 1 Principal Planner position focused on GIS.

o                     Add 1 Associate Planner position primarily responsible for assisting with planning, zoning, and development regulation activities.

o                     Add 1 Planning Administrator position and 1 Principal Planner position focused on long range planning.

The changes listed above increase the number of positions authorized for Fiscal Year 2024 from 1,396 to 1,399.

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for the Director of Public Safety position has been transferred from the Police Department to the City Manager’s Office. Funding for the position changes within Development Services will be covered with vacancy savings and a reallocation of the funding from the vacant and converted Deputy Director position.
