Explanation:
In November 2018, Broward County voters approved a 30-year sales surtax (also known as "Penny for Transportation") to fund statutorily permissible transportation expenditures. The Johnson Street Complete Streets Project, from Dixie Highway to North 30th Road, has been determined statutorily eligible for surtax funding and subsequently approved for funding by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners.
In anticipation of Transportation Grant funded Capital Improvement opportunities, City staff issued Requests for Qualifications for varied engineering disciplines to be selected on a continuing services basis for future projects yet to be determined.
On September 1, 2021, the City Commission adopted Resolution R-2021-208, ranking engineering firms and approving the execution of Continuing Services Professional Services Agreements, which included Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc.; under RFQ-4666-21-DCM; which included provisions to allow usage for Broward County Surtax funded Projects.
The Department of Design and Construction Management ("DCM") negotiated with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. the project scope and fee in an amount up to $96,000.00.
