Explanation:
On March 12, 2019, City of Hollywood voters passed a General Obligation Bond
("GO Bond") during a Special Election to fund a variety of Citywide public improvement projects. Amongst those projects is the new Police Department Headquarters, which is currently in the planning and design phase.

The existing Police Headquarters is located on Hollywood Boulevard and S. Park Road.

In planning for the completion of the GO Bond projects, Continuing Services Contracts, procured per FS 287.055 Consultants Competitive Negotiation Act, were secured with various firms to provide engineering services.

The City Commission, through Resolution R-2018-400, approved these contracts with seven firms, one of the firms being Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc. ("Langan").

Langan was contracted with on May 27, 2020 to evaluate the site history and test for typical environmental impacts from historical uses of the site as part of the Police Department Headquarters project. Langan installed 23 monitoring wells to collect groundwater samples and collected 144 soil samples within the project area.

Through environmental analysis of the area that included ground water testing and monitoring well analysis of the future development area, it was determined that a former 10,000-gallon underground storage tank ("UST"), an abandoned 5,000-gallon UST, as well as an existing 4,000-gallon UST for the emergency generator at the existing Police Department, were still in place.

This analysis also determined that no known groundwater impacts in the proposed project area...
