Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities, the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), Broward County, and many other national and local entities annually designate April as “Water Conservation Month.” April was chosen because it is typically a dry month with high water demands making it an ideal time to call upon citizens and businesses to practice water saving measures.
Celebrating “Water Conservation Month” also provides an opportunity to highlight the various conservation programs provided by the Department of Public Utilities. These programs include a variety of ways to conserve water and help manage utility bills. Current water conservation programs offered include:
• Toilet Rebate Program
• Leak Detection Tips and Tablets
• Irrigation Audits and Rebates
• Showerhead Exchanges
The Proclamation will be accepted by a representative of the South Florida Water Management District.
The Proclamation will be presented at the April 4, 2023, City Commission Meeting.
