Explanation:

The Department of Public Works requires comprehensive landscaping and maintenance, including tree planting and installation throughout the City.  This service is required to maintain a healthy and beautiful environment for the best interest of the City.

The landscaping of Pembroke Road and 56th Avenue requires new trees to be installed and planted.  This will require the implementation of a comprehensive program to supply all labor, equipment, and materials for the installation and planting along this area.

This project will cost the City $200,000.00 to complete, there is budgeted amount $150,000.00 available.  The Department of Public Works has submitted a grant application with the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in the amount of $50,000.00.  A portion of the $150,000.00 will go toward the matching funds required for the grant application.

The Interim Director of Public Works and the Chief Procurement Officer recommend that the City Commission if awarded authorize the appropriate City officials to execute all applicable grant documents with the State of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for the Citywide Tree Installation Project.
