Explanation:
The Broward Education Foundation, Inc. (the “Foundation”) has administered the City’s Excellence in Education Grant Program (the “Program”) continuously since 2014. The partnership between the City and the Foundation has resulted in the award of approximately $120,000.00 in City grants to educators at public schools in Hollywood, together with a similar amount of funding provided by the Foundation in support of the Program. Because the Foundation disburses funds to participants upfront instead of on a reimbursement basis, the Program has been more attractive to educators than under the previous framework.
Due to an administrative oversight, an agreement for Fiscal Year 2021 between the Broward Education Foundation and the City of Hollywood was not put forth to the Commission for review. However, the City of Hollywood’s Education Advisory Committee selected from the grant submissions and those selections were funded by the Broward Education Foundation.

Funding for the Broward Education Foundation, Inc. is available in the FY 2023 Operating Budget in account number 001.116002.51300.584490.000000.000.000.
