Explanation:
The City owns, operates, and maintains Citywide stormwater facilities. Swales, sloped grassy areas alongside sidewalks, streets, parking lots, and driveways, are designed to capture, treat, and convey rainwater. Swales are a key component of the stormwater management system that help protect the environment by filtering runoff pollutants, providing temporary rainwater storage, and reducing flooding. The Department of Public Utilities ("Department") is in the process of restoring swales across the City.

The Department, on behalf of the City, submitted a grant application to the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection ("FDEP") Resiliency Grant Program for funding of the Recapture the Swale Restoration Pilot Program. This project has a total cost of $695,000.00 and was awarded a grant in the amount of $326,650.00. The grant requires the remaining project cost of $368,350.00 to be funded by the Department.

This agenda item seeks the City Commission's authorization of acceptance of the FDEP Resiliency Grant in the amount of $326,650.00 for the Recapture the Swale Restoration Pilot Program; authorization of the required matching funds, and authorization for the appropriate City officials to execute all applicable grant documents and agreements.
