Explanation:

The Police Department submitted an application to the Gary Sinise Foundation for the First Responder Grant to purchase medical mass casualty trauma kits.

The Police Department responds to all emergency situations within the City of Hollywood, including but not limited to issues relating to mass killings, mass shootings, and multi-vehicle accidents where the City Fire Rescue Services may be delayed due to an active threat.  The City desires to promote and enhance the professional capabilities of its officers and provide the necessary equipment to respond to a crisis.  The acceptance of the grant funds would allow for the purchase of medical mass casualty trauma kits.

Fiscal Impact:

If approved, grant funding in the amount of $21,837.00 will be made available in the Fiscal Year 2023 Operating Budget for this equipment purchase as detailed in Exhibit 1, subject to the approval of this resolution.
