Explanation:

The City of Hollywood Fire Rescue & Beach Safety Department is in need of a High Water Rescue Unit. This apparatus is needed to provide emergency medical services and fire protection in flood prone areas.

Flooding is anticipated in the City due to king tides and potential storms from the hurricane and rainy season. This apparatus will let firefighters gain access to areas which would be inaccessible with conventional emergency apparatus. This apparatus is essential to deliver services to our citizens and visitors.

There is a purchase order issued for this High Water Rescue Unit; however, the vendor is requesting that a disclaimer be signed prior to delivery. This is an “as is” purchase and without warranty. It is cost effective to purchase a used High Water Rescue Unit versus a new one due to the anticipated usage and funding available.

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for this purchase was available in capital account number 111.219801.52200.564530.000000.000.000.
