Explanation:
The City of Hollywood together with the Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency (“CRA”) desire certain additional beautification improvements to State Road A1A to enhance the corridor aesthetic and improve the pedestrian experience. The City of Hollywood will maintain the new landscape improvements such as colored sidewalks and driveways, pavers, asphalt patterned crosswalks and irrigation system.
On February 6, 2013, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2013-027, which authorized the execution of a Landscape Inclusive Maintenance Memorandum of Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (“FDOT”) for the purpose of maintaining the landscape improvements by the City on various roads, including State Road A1A.
The initial Memorandum of Agreement was amended on October 2, 2013 pursuant to Resolution NO. R-2013-283, on November 6, 2013 pursuant to Resolution No. R-2013-319, on October 5, 2016 pursuant to Resolution No. R-2016-296, on July 3, 2017 pursuant to Resolution No. R-2017-207, and on August 31, 2017 pursuant to Resolution No. R-2018-238. Other amendments in the process of being executed and coming to the City Commission include additional landscape improvements within the City on various FDOT roads.
Resolution No. R-2013-027 allows the City to construct additional landscape improvements or modify an improvement as indicated in the attached Exhibit “A” State Road A1A (N. Ocean Avenue) from Arizona Street (M.P.2.664) to Sheridan Street (M.P.4.079); in accordance with the plans attached as Exhibit “B”. The City agrees to maintain the additional landscape improvements in the Agreement as described according to Maintenance Plan of the Original Agreement and the specific site Maintenance requirements and recommendations stated in the Agreement attached as Exhibit “1”.
Fiscal Impact:
The maintenance of all landscaping improvements will commence at completion of the installation of planned improvements which is anticipated to be FY 2023/2024. The City will be providing the maintenance and the CRA will provide the funding. Funds will be requested in the appropriate budget year.
