Explanation:
The Police Department Marine Unit desires to purchase an Inflatable 28 foot Marine Patrol Vessel to navigate City of Hollywood and Intracoastal waterways as well as the City's numerous miles of ocean beach front. The Police Marine Unit currently has two vessels that were never intended to be used for the police patrol function, have inadequate maritime technology, and are unable to meet the demands of our community, which have caused the Marine Unit to request mutual aid assistance from outside agencies The purchase of a new and reliable Law Enforcement purpose built Marine Unit Vessel would not only increase the Police Department's maritime profile, but will increase the Department's operational readiness capacity and ensure they are an active, valuable partner to surrounding agencies.
On February 4, 2021, Notice of Availability of Bid F-4661-21-JE was posted on the City's Website, advertised and sent to 2,074 firms and viewed by 35 vendors on Bidsync.com in accordance with the Code of Ordinances, Section 38.43. Responses were received from three bidders: Zodiac of North America, Inc., Sirocco Marine and Ribcraft USA, LLC.
Zodiac of North America, Inc. did not meet the minimum specifications as requested in the bid.
