Explanation:
The request is to amend the Zoning and Land Development Regulations in an effort to provide distance separation for package stores. This text amendment is a result of numerous discussions among City staff and the City Commission regarding the establishment of distance requirements for package stores within the City.
The distance separation proposed is consistent with distance separation requirements for similar uses within the City such as convenience stores. The proposed text amendment excludes package stores larger than 9,000 square feet. Typically, these larger package stores offer accessory uses that differentiate them from small scaled package stores.
