Body
Staff Recommends: Approval of the Attached Resolution.
Explanation:
In November 2018, Broward County voters approved a 30-year sales surtax to fund statutorily permissible transportation expenditure.
All projects, County, State and Municipal, funded by the transportation surtax are evaluated for eligibility by the independent Transportation Surtax Oversight Board before the Broward County Board of Commissioners makes the final decisions regarding project funding.
City projects are and will be going through the approval process, and once they are determined to be eligible for funding, the City will be required to execute an Interlocal Agreement in order for Broward County to provide the transportation tax funding and the City to implement the projects. In order to expedite the implementation of those approved transportation surtax projects, City Administration is requesting that the City Manager be authorized to execute the required Interlocal Agreements for each project.
Fiscal Impact:
Approval of this Resolution will expedite securing surtax funding for the City’s approved projects.
