Explanation:

The City Commission desires to beautify the public rights-of-way within the City of Hollywood to include State Highway facilities. On February 6, 2013, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2013-027 which authorized the execution of the Inclusive Landscape Maintenance Memorandum of Agreement between the Florida Department of Transportation (“FDOT”) and the City with the purpose of maintaining the landscape.

The initial Memorandum of Agreement was amended on October 2, 2013 with Resolution No. R-2013-283; November 6, 2013 with Resolution No. R-2013-319; October 5, 2016 with Resolution No R-2016-296; July 3, 2017 with Resolution No. R2017-207, and July 3, 2018 with Resolution No R-2018-238, all of which include additional landscape improvements within the City on various FDOT roads.

Due to changes in construction of the I-95 express lanes, the landscape costs have changed.  FDOT has revised the landscape improvements on I-95 at several locations, specifically set forth in Exhibit “A” of this proposed Amendment Number Nine to the Inclusive Landscape Maintenance Memorandum of Agreement. The additional landscape improvements are depicted on the landscape plans as Exhibit “B” to the proposed Amendment Number Nine.

In order to include the revised landscape improvements it is necessary to execute the attached Amendment Number Nine to the Inclusive Landscape Maintenance Memorandum of Agreement.

FDOT is responsible for the installation of the proposed landscape improvements and the original costs were estimated at $132,005.00.  This estimate has been revised to $14,800.00. The landscape improvements will be installed by FDOT and the City will be required to maintain such improvements.

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for the continuing maintenance is available in the FY2021 Operating account number  001.500202.54100.552290.000000.000.000.
