Explanation:
Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") provides funding to the Institute for Police Technology and Management ("IPTM") at the University of North Florida for the High Visibility Enforcement Program for Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety. IPTM provides contracts to law enforcement agencies in priority counties to conduct high visibility enforcement operations in areas with the highest representation of traffic crashes resulting in serious or fatal injuries to pedestrians and bicyclists. High visibility enforcement funds are intended as a crash mitigation tool and high enforcement details are designed to reduce unsafe behaviors of all road users, including motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists. The Police Department applied for and was approved to receive funds in the amount of $28,226.50 to fund officers' overtime hours for increased presence, visibility, and awareness to our citizens in order to impact the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists.

Fiscal Impact:
This resolution seeks approval to accept FDOT grant funds in the amount of $28,226.50. Grant funding will be made available in the FY 2021 Operating Budget of the Police Grants Fund (Fund 113) as detailed in Exhibit 1, subject to approval of this resolution.
