Explanation:
The Information Technology (IT) Department desires to provide a fleet replacement solution to lease computer laptops and accessories to replace end-of-life non-compatible Police Department (PD) equipment.

The leasing of new laptops would replace the current ruggedized laptop units capable of withstanding outdoor environments and extreme temperatures used by PD in the field and in vehicles that have surpassed their useful life expectancy, and for which there are no longer replacement parts.

The goal of a fleet replacement solution allows for the refreshment of computer systems and accessories on a predetermined schedule with predictable costs. This will provide the City with a level of security, encryption, and compatibility of technologies which will assist the City in avoiding being in a situation where systems are incompatible with modern technology. The useful life for similar devices is approximately 5 years, and this acquisition would allow the City to replace equipment based on this timeline and not have them degrade and become unusable for City staff.

The County has announced that they will no longer allow incompatible end-of-life systems, such as the current PD laptops, to access the County's Computer Aided Dispatch System or the County's Records Management System. Also, the current legacy devices do not com...
