Explanation:
The Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (SRWWTP) is a 55.5 million gallon per day wastewater treatment facility that uses multiple treatment processes to treat wastewater and produces high quality effluent. This plant utilizes biological treatment via five (5) oxygenation trains. The preliminary treated wastewater is distributed among the oxygenation trains via an Oxygenation Flow Distribution Box (OFDB). Odor is generated in the OFDB due to the turbulence in the flow. The odor control system in the OFDB was installed in 2002 and has reached the end of its useful life and needs extensive maintenance.

On September 4, 2019, pursuant to Resolution No. R-2019-255, the City Commission approved and authorized the issuance of an Authorization to Proceed to Hazen and Sawyer, P.C. to provide professional engineering services for the design, permitting, and bidding for Oxygenation Flow Distribution Box Odor Control System Replacement at the Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant in the amount of $89,548.00 with the intent to replace it with a biological odor control system in consideration of reduced maintenance needs.
