Explanation:
On March 12, 2019, the City of Hollywood held a Special Election where a majority of voters decided to fund a variety of City-wide public improvement projects to be funded by a General Obligation Bond. One of these projects under the Resiliency Improvements category is the Tidal Flood Mitigation and Shoreline Protection Project Phase I.
This General Obligation Bond Project was divided into 22 smaller projects and classified by priority. Priority 1 projects will address public property areas around North Lake and South Lake inlets that do not have shoreline protection. Shoreline protection will be provided to meet the 5 foot NAVD88 elevation as required by the Broward County Code of Ordinances, and to offer protection from the projected 2050 sea-level elevations. Priority 2 projects will increase the level of protection for public property, which currently has some form of tidal barrier, but which do not meet 2050 projections. Priority 3 projects will deal with western portions of the inlets that are not posed an immediate risk from projected sea-level rise, but do not meet currently accepted methods of shoreline protection and 2050 elevation projections.

The scope of work in the contract that is being recommended for approval includes conceptual drawings for projects in the three priority categories, all work required to produce construction documents for Priority 1 projects and construction services.
