Explanation:
The Department of Development Services' Community Development Division oversees programs are funded in part by federal funding made available through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, which is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
On July 3, 2019, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2019-221, approving the 2019-2020 One Year Action Plan that includes a public service allocation to South Florida Institute on Aging, Inc.'s Foster Grandparent Program, which provides senior volunteers to tutor and mentor children ages 3-11.
Due to the continued financial impact of the COVID-19 Health Emergency, the Community Development Division desires to amend the current agreement. This amendment will reallocate the balance of South Florida Institute on Aging, Inc.'s CDBG funds to support their Seniors Technology Training program.
The Seniors Technology Training program provides training to seniors participating in the Foster Grandparent Program to learn how to use vital communication tools such as Zoom, Facetime, Google Hangouts, etc. Once the senior participants are able to use these tools, the program will prepare them to continue providing support to Hollywood students in Hollywood schools should distance learning continue.
The amendment to the agreement with South Florida Institute on Aging, Inc. will not exceed the amount of $10,500.00, which is the remaining balance of the CDBG funds allocated to...
