Explanation:

The City of Hollywood Fire Rescue & Beach Safety Department provides Emergency Medical Services and transport services to local hospitals via Advanced Life Support Ambulances.

These ambulances should be replaced every 7 years. One of the Advanced Life Support Ambulances being replaced was manufactured in 2008 and has 139,248 miles and the second ambulance was manufactured in 2013 and has 100,462 miles. These vehicles are past their useful age and are in need of replacement.

Fiscal Impact:

The Department of Fire Rescue and Beach Safety desires to issue a purchase order to Ten-8 Fire Equipment, Inc for this purchase of two Braun Super Chief Rescue Transport Vehicles for a total cost of $694,228.00.  Ten-8 Fire Equipment, Inc. has offered the City a pre-paid discount of $7,000.00 per ambulance if payment is made within 15 days of purchase order issuance, which will result in a total cost of $680,228.00.
