Explanation:

The City of Hollywood’s Water Treatment Plant (“WTP”) is a 60 million gallons per day (MGD) plant that not only provides high quality water to the residents of the City but also serves approximately 300 acres in the Town of Davie, 50 acres in the City of Dania Beach, and 100 acres in the Seminole Tribe of Florida reservation.  WTP also provides wholesale water to Broward County’s Water and Wastewater Services Districts 3A and 3B/C.  In addition to retail and wholesale water services, the City has an emergency connection with the City of Dania Beach, which withdraws water from the City’s system to maintain its system pressure.

The WTP requires regular supply of Sodium Hypochlorite 12 percent concentration for the disinfection of potable drinking water for consumption by Hollywood residents and businesses.

On November 15, 2017, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution Number R-2017-346 authorizing the issuance of a Blanket Purchase Order (BPO) with Allied Universal Corporation based upon the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Cooperative Bid No. 12006-372 in accordance with Section 38.46 of the City’s Purchasing Ordinance. On August 28, 2020, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution Number R-2019-234 renewing BPO B003074 for the first one year renewal period that expires on October 2, 2020.

The Department of Public Utilities seeks approval to renew the existing Blanket Purchase Order No. B003074 for one additional year term as per the original contract. It is essential the contract be renewed before the expiration date of October 2, 2020 for continued production and service.

The Department of Public Utilities staff will manage this project. No additional staff is needed as a result of this project.

Fiscal Impact:

The total amount for the additional one year contract term will be $250,000.00. Funding for this service will be budgeted in subsequent fiscal years’ operating budget subject to the approval and adoption by the City Commission. The funding for the current contract term was allocated in the FY 2020 Operating Budget account number 442.400501.53600.552330.000000.000.000.
