Explanation:

The Department of Information Technology requires annual maintenance on the City’s Motorola 800MHz radio equipment. This agreement provides onsite maintenance for the equipment required by the City’s Public Safety users to connect to the Broward County Regional Communications Computer Aided Dispatch and Radio System for the period of October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2021, and staff has deemed it necessary that Motorola Solutions, Inc. continue to provide such onsite maintenance.

 

On December 3, 2003, pursuant to Resolution R-2003-387, the City Commission authorized the appropriate City officials to execute agreements with Motorola Solutions, Inc., Inc. for the acquisition of Motorola 800MHz radio equipment. The City acquired Motorola 800MHz radios and accessories at that time and then entered into agreements with Motorola Solutions, Inc. for the maintenance of the radios and related hardware until the radio equipment needed upgrading and replacing.

 

In December, 2013, the City Commission approved the acquisition and financing of new 800 MHz radio equipment for public safety and local government users, replacing the legacy radios from 2003. That acquisition included three years of maintenance. In 2016, with R-2016-350, after the completion of the three year period of maintenance, the City began annual renewals for Motorola radio equipment maintenance, with the latest being approved on September 4, 2019.

 

The current agreement expires on September 30, 2020, and staff has determined that it is necessary to have Motorola Solutions, Inc. continue to provide this maintenance service to continue compatibility with the County.

 

The Director of Information Technology and the Director of Procurement and Contract Compliance recommend that the City Commission approve the attached agreement with Motorola Solutions, Inc. for radio equipment maintenance for a one-year term in the estimated amount of $144,368.62.

 

 

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for this agreement will be made available in the FY 2021 budget in account number 557.130101.51900.531170.00000.000.000, subject to approval and adoption by the City Commission. The cost of this agreement is $49,104.38 less than the previous renewal amount of $193,473.00.
