Explanation:
The City is a participant in the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (“SHIP”) program as provided in Section 420.907, et. seq., Florida Statutes, and Rule 67-37, Florida Administrative Code, and has adopted a Local Housing Assistance Plan (“LHAP”).
On June 20, 2018, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2018-208, approving an amendment to the LHAP for State of Florida Fiscal Years 2016-2017, 2017-2018, and 2018-2019, including a Disaster Assistance Strategy that provides rental assistance, security and/or utility deposits and rapid re-housing.
On June 26, 2020, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2020-138 retaining HOPE South Florida, Inc. (“HOPE”) to administer a program that provided three months’ rent and utility assistance not to exceed $5,000.00 to persons financially impacted by the COVID-19 Health Emergency.
Due to the continued financial impact of the COVID-19 Health Emergency, the Department of Development Services/Community Development Division desires to amend the agreement with HOPE to increase the maximum amount of assistance to eligible beneficiaries to six months’ rent and utility assistance not to exceed $10,000.00.
Fiscal Impact:
Funding is available in account number 164.160301.55400.583230.001020.000.000. The terms of the amendment does not change the amount of funds available for the program as approved by Resolution No. R-2020-138.
