Explanation:

On September 20, 2018, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2018-287, authorizing the appropriate City officials to execute the Transportation System Surtax Interlocal Agreement with Broward County and the Broward County Metropolitan Planning Organization setting forth conditions for municipal project funding and supporting the 2018 Transportation Surtax ballot measure.  The ballot measure was approved by the voters of Broward County on November 6, 2018.

On April 1, 2020, Broward County finalized Cycle 1 evaluation criteria and opened an application portal for municipal rehabilitation and maintenance projects.

The Department of Development Services, Engineering, Transportation and Mobility Division has identified the following rehabilitation and maintenance projects that improve City streets, congestion, sidewalks, and neighborhood flooding:

Project 1)

North Park Road between Sheridan Street and Oak Drive

Raleigh Street between North Park Road and North 38th Avenue

Sarazen Drive between North 35th Street and North 46th Avenue

North 26th Avenue between Taft Street and Sheridan Street

West Park Road between North Park Road and North 40th Avenue

Project 2)

North 58th Avenue between Johnson Street and Sheridan Street

Project 3)

Liberty Street between North Park Road and North 31st Street

These projects primarily consist of milling and resurfacing, sidewalk repairs, and additional ADA access points on cross-streets.  Some project areas will also receive additional cross walks, drainage improvements, and minor modifications to reduce congestion and improve safety.

The estimated cost (design and construction) for each project is as follows:

Project 1)

North Park Road

$543,500

Raleigh Street

$380,200

Sarazen Drive

$371,200

North 26th Avenue

$586,000

West Park Road

$1,086,900

Total

$2,967,800

Project 2)

North 58th Avenue

$1,666,900

Project 3)

Liberty Street

$991,800

One of the items required to be included in the funding application packages is a Resolution of Support from the City Commission.
