Explanation

The City operates a bus bench and bus shelter program providing facilities for bus patrons at 546 Broward County Transit bus stop locations throughout the City. A maintenance agreement (City Resolution R-2010-181) is currently in place between Broward County and the City for the maintenance of the County provided bus shelters. The bus shelters are installed and owned by the County with maintenance provided by the City through the Agreement.

Currently, there are 53 bus shelters under the Agreement. The County is requesting an amendment to the agreement to add 54 new bus shelter installations and to remove two bus shelters from existing locations increasing the total number of bus shelters under the agreement to 105. The locations of the bus shelters are based on bus patron ridership and approval by the City. This is the first amendment to the Agreement and the revised Exhibit A is attached.

Fiscal Impact:

The bus shelter maintenance is provided by a vendor through the Bus Bench and Bus Shelter Agreement with Sunshine Media, Inc. (Sunshine Agreement).  The Sunshine Agreement is a companion item, on this agenda, for City Commission consideration and approval.
