Staff Recommends: The Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

Food and beverages services continue to be an essential service for City staff and residents who conduct business at the City.

The current food and beverage agreement with EL Gran Cafecito, Inc. D/B/A Alexandra’s ends on March 4, 2020.

The Director of Procurement Services is recommending a nine month extension through December 4, 2020 to allow additional time to conduct market research on best practices by examining how other companies and government entities are providing food and beverage services to their employees and customers. During the extension, staff will explore how best to incorporate healthier food and drink options. Additionally, staff will look into transforming the provision of food and beverage services into a possible revenue generating opportunity. Ultimately, it is the City’s intent to conduct a formal competitive process and bring the selected vendor to the City Commission for approval.

EL Gran Cafecito, Inc. D/B/A Alexandra’s continues to provide satisfactory food and beverage service for the City and will maintain the required insurance as determined by Risk Management.

Fiscal Impact:

The City does not provide funding for this contracted service. The vendor retains all proceeds from food and beverage sales.  The City will continue to provide space and utilities necessary to offer food and beverage services to staff and visitors over the course of this extended agreement, subject to approval of this resolution.
