Body

Staff Recommends:  Approval of the Resolution.

Explanation:

During a playground inspection in November 2019, the playground and shade structure showed significant issues that impacted the safe operation of the playground. The structural issues were extensive and PRCA staff closed the playground to users.

The playground is located on Fillmore Street and a gateway to the Broadwalk and Beach. The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts requires the purchase and installation of playground equipment and playground surfacing for Fillmore Street Playground as part of the City's Capital Improvement Program as an emergency repair.

The Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts and the Director of Procurement Services recommend that the City Commission approve issuance of a Purchase Order for the purchase and installation of playground equipment and playground safety surfacing from Kompan, Inc. in the amount of $73,852.66.
