Title
A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Authorizing The Appropriate City Officials To Execute The Agreement And Addendum With Motorola Solutions For The Port Fee For The Connection To The Motorola Solutions South Florida Hosted Master Site 800 Mhz Radio System For Public Safety, Local Government, And Communication With Other Entities Including Broward County, In An Amount Of $100,000.00 Per Year With An Optional One Year Renewal.

Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

Seeking the approval of the new agreement, addendum and funding for the annual port fee connection to the Hosted Master Site (HMS) for public safety and local government 800mhz radio at $8,333.33 monthly. This connection is required for public safety and local government radios to continue to communicate effectively with other entities in Broward County including County Dispatch.

As part of the City's 2003 interlocal agreement which provides cooperative participation in a regional public safety communication system, the City of Hollywood's public safety and local government radios are able to connect to the County's Motorola Controller System.

In 2012, the County's Motorola Controller System was no longer supported. With R-2012-368, the City executed a five-year agreement with Motorola effective March 1, 2013 with two additional one-year renewal periods for connection to the HMS which replaced the end of life Motorola Controller System.

The existing agreement ends on February 28, 2020 and this resolution seeks the extension of one year with an optional one year additional renewal.

In Q4 of 2020 (Nov or Dec) the HMS is scheduled to be upgraded. Once this happens, the City's legacy system will no longer be operational and will be disconnected. Once the legacy system for Hollywood is disconnected from the HMS, monthly billing will stop.
