Title

A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Approving And Authorizing The Payment Of Fees To GrayRobinson P.A. For Legal Services To Develop Regulations For 5G Technology In The Not To Exceed Amount Of $37,500.00.

Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the Attached Resolution.

Explanation:

5G wireless technology has been developed in recent years and is a fast growing industry. This technology requires installation of numerous poles throughout the City by various telecommunication companies. The City desires to develop regulations that would be applicable to the 5G installations throughout the City.

GrayRobinson P.A. has been working on developing similar regulations for other municipalities and have in-house expertise in this type of work. Staff recommends using this firm to develop regulations and draft the ordinance for the City regarding 5G technology and its associated construction details.

The City is already using GrayRobinson P.A. for lobbying and for the Icon litigation and is paying the firm more than $50,000.00 for the two existing matters they are handling. Since the Purchasing Ordinance requires City Commission approval of the payment of fees to any vendor for services over $50,000, staff is requesting Commission approval of this item.

Funding has been identified in account number 001.140202.51500.531300.00000.000.000.
