Explanation:
The Information Technology Department is requesting a 3 year renewal and annual increase of the existing blanket purchase order B003056 for Comcast, which was approved via City Manager memo PR-18-242 in Fiscal Year 2018. This blanket is utilized for the purchase and maintenance of business class internet and Digital Television Adapters (DTA) that allow access to local government TV channels.

In order to support existing and future projects within the City, additional funds are required. This will result in an increase of the existing blanket from $45,000 to an estimated amount of $52,000.00 annually for a three year total of $156,000, requiring commission approval.

On July 19, 2000, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution Number R-2000-231 for the renewal of a cable franchise agreement between Comcast (formerly AT&T Cable Services) and the City. The agreement allowed Comcast to construct, operate and maintain cable television systems throughout the City.

On December 18, 2013, Comcast encrypted their cable services in Hollywood. This level of encryption meant that all cable ready televisions required the use of a DTA to receive any broadcast channels, including local government channels. The City is responsible for current and future expenses related to cable services and DTAs.

Comcast is the sole provider for cable services in the City of Hollywood. Services such as business class internet are required for network connectivity, payment card industry compliance, and security.
