Explanation:

The School Board of Broward County desires to have the City assign six School Resource Officers in six public elementary schools, five School Resource Officers in five public middle schools and three School Resource Officers in three public high schools located within the City. The City and the School Board of Broward County understand that the School Resource Officer Program is established for the purposes set forth in Section 230.2318, Florida Statutes, including but not limited to assistance in prevention of juvenile delinquency. The City and the School Board of Broward County realize that the School Resource Officer Program is a wonderful benefit to school administration, students and the local community as a whole.

The City and the School Board of Broward County acknowledge that the School Resource Officers assigned to the Elementary, Middle and High Schools are instrumental in facilitating student involvement in community service programs and projects. The term of this Agreement commences on August 14, 2019 and concludes on June 3, 2020, and the School Board of Broward County, through this Agreement, intends to defray a fraction of the City’s cost toward the City’s School Resource Officer Program by reimbursing the City in the amount of $764,400.00.
