Explanation:

The Broward County Metropolitan Planning Organization recently issued a call for regional transportation projects titled Commitment 2045. After the Broward MPO and FDOT ranked and evaluated the projects submitted by all the municipalities; the following three projects were highly ranked and considered cost feasible to move into the next phase, allocating funding for project development and environment study phase:

? SR822/Sheridan Street widening, from Dixie Hwy to US-1.
? US-1/Young Circle Congestion management improvements by replacing traffic signals with roundabouts.
? US-1/I-595 Ramp Improvements from S.E. 17th Street to I-595 intersection alignment and an additional on ramp lane.

The projects are located on SR822/Sheridan Street and US-1, which are Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") roadways, with final permit authority resting with FDOT.

These projects have been identified for inclusion by the MPO on the 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan, and require the support of the City Commission to move forward on to the funding phase for feasibility studies and design. City staff recommends that the City Commission support the implementation of the aforementioned projects.
