Explanation:
The City's Department of Public Utilities provides the vital life sustaining function of supplying safe, reliable and healthy drinking water to the residents, visitors and various other customers of the City of Hollywood.

It is essential for proper planning to take place in order to provide reliable water services, and

Under the City's Master Water Plan critical water infrastructure assets were identified that are well beyond their useful life which may pose public health and safety risks if not addressed properly; therefore, the City will need to start various initiatives and projects to meet compliance of plan and other regulatory requirements.

The City will need to start various initiatives and projects for compliance with various regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, requirements within its 10-year Water Supply Plan.

On April 15, 2009, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2009-095 which approved the adoption of the Water Master Plan.

The City has completed a comprehensive revenue analysis and rate study to identify future revenue requirements for the implementation of critical capital projects.

On October 15, 1996, the City and Broward County entered into an Interlocal Agreement for the Sale of Potable Water with Broward County and this agreement was amended pursuant to Resolution No. R-2004-08.

In accordance with Section 9b(3) of the Interlocal Agreement, the City is authorized to increase the rate to Broward County for the purchase of bulk water, in an amount not to exceed the percentage of the increase enacted for the City's retail customers.
