Explanation:
On March 12, 2019, City residents passed the General Obligation bond to fund a variety of Citywide public improvement projects, which included an addition to the existing Art& Culture Center.
On May 1, 2019, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution R-2019-102, which approved the execution of Continuing Service Contracts with the five highest ranked architectural/engineering firms pursuant to a Request for Qualifications for Continuing Services for professional Architectural/Engineering consultants, one of which was Brooks & Scarpa Architects, Inc.
City and Arts Center Staff prepared a building program for spaces in the new addition and then met with Brooks & Scarpa Architects to review the requirements for the addition to the existing Art & Culture Center. City staff solicited a proposal from Brooks & Scarpa Architects, and negotiated a scope and fee in that is reasonable and in accordance with industry standards.
A copy of the architect's proposal is attached and the total estimated design costs for the project is $250,000.00. The architect will be authorized to complete the work in phases, at each stage of the project, through a series of Authorization to Proceed. City staff recommends approval to expend design fees, for the project in an amount not to exceed $250,000.00. Funding is available in account number 333.309901.57200.563010.001214.000.000.
