Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

On April 2, 2014, pursuant to Resolution R-BCRA-2014-14, the CRA Board approved expenditure of funds for the design of the Nebraska/Nevada Street Parking Garage by Joseph Kaller and Associates, Inc (“JK”).

On July 3, 2017, via Resolution R-BCRA-2017-27, due to an approved modification of the project, an additional $70,000.00 was approved by the CRA Board for additional Construction Administration Services to be provided by JK.

During the initial construction phase, Kaufman Lynn Construction (“KL”) encountered unforeseen conditions, including failure of the test piles.  As a result of these unforeseen conditions and the test pile failure, KL was awarded an extension of 102 days which required JK to perform additional tasks and spend  additional time to revise the drawings, coordinate with sub-consultants, make additional site visits, attend additional meetings, and more.

JK seeks additional fees costs in the amount of $16,835.00 for the additional tasks and time, which enabled the contractor to continue working without interruption.  The CRA Executive Director is recommending that JK be compensated for the additional services.

Funding for this additional fee is available in account number 163.639901.55200.563010.000013.000.000.
