Title

An Ordinance Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Repealing Section 133.30 Of The Code Of Ordinances Entitled “Discharging Firearms”.

Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Ordinance.

Explanation:

Section 133.30 prohibits the discharge of a firearm within the territorial limits of the City, with certain exceptions. Section 790.33, Florida Statutes, expressly preempts the whole field of the regulation of firearms to the State and declares any existing ordinances which regulate firearms to be null and void. Due to the State law preemption, it is necessary to repeal Section 133.30 of the Code of Ordinances.
