Explanation:
The Department of Information Technology has deemed it necessary to purchase a unified management solution for management of network devices, access control, security policies, and application usage. This includes firewalls, switches, and software.

After conducting market research, it was determined that the proposed Fortinet solution would best integrate with City network equipment to provide a centralized, security-centric, "single pane network infrastructure" allowing for consolidated visibility and reporting and easing management and troubleshooting. The requested equipment, software, and professional services will also directly support and enable business continuity of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) efforts by allowing redundant internet and firewall infrastructure for our cloud based systems.


The existing equipment was purchased 12 years ago but is based on 20 year old technology. They must be replaced as they are end of life, no longer supported by the vendor, and no longer receive software updates, leaving the City vulnerable to security threats.

The initial purchase of equipment, software, 5 year maintenance, and professional services will cost $340,000.00 with recurring maintenance starting in year 6 at an estimated amount of $45,000.00.
